Please note appointments are being conducted REMOTELY at this time.

Dr. Shiva Rouhani is a Family Physician with a Focused Practice in Medical Psychotherapy.  Her focus is on FUNCTIONAL IMPROVEMENT.  We all have specific talents, gifts, and capacities and it is only when we feel empowered can we keep striving to reach our potential.

Dr. Rouhani works with individuals struggling with symptoms of Adult ADHD and/or accompanying mood changes (anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance).

Having started her career as a Classical Homeopath, Dr. Rouhani is aware that many people are cautious about using pharmacotherapy.  A session with her will likely involve discussions on self-care including sleep, schedule, routine, meditation, physical movement, and stress management as these play an integral role in overall function.

If you are considering a medication trial and meet CADDRA guidelines, she can initiate and/or modify medications as needed.  She can continue to participate in your care until a good response has been achieved at which point she will provide that information to your Primary Care Provider for ongoing management.

Again, our focus at ROUHANI MEDICAL is function and treatment - not diagnosis.  If you are seeking a formal diagnosis of ADHD for documentation purposes, a formal psychological assessment is your next step.  As a psychological assessment is not OHIP funded, a referral from a physician is not needed and can be initiated by individuals directly.

If you think/feel you may benefit from an initial appointment, please discuss arranging for an initial visit with your Primary Care Provider.

Requirements For Remote Appointments

Remote appointments with Dr. Shiva Rouhani are currently available as Virtual Visits (currently via Zoom). We understand that many individuals are not comfortable proceeding with this platform and until the situation changes, you are encouraged to follow up with your family physician or nurse practitioner as needed.

If you agree to proceed with a zoom video visit:

  • Connect to the zoom platform 5 minutes before your scheduled time.
  • Ensure your audio and webcam are working for Dr. Rouhani to be able to "see" you.
  • If needed, you can join a test meeting to familiarize yourself with Zoom.
  • The zoom link will end if you have not joined by 5 minutes into your appointment time.
  • Medications will not be renewed without an appointment with the doctor.
  • Missed appointment fees (payable via e-transfer) are being enforced for missed appointments or "no shows".
  • If you are experiencing technical difficulties and contact our office either before or during your appointment time, no fee will be applied.
  • If you do not have the desktop application (APP) for Zoom, you can download it for free:
  • If you are already familiar with the Zoom App, please ensure that you have updated it to the latest Zoom version.

We do our best to make sure that any information you give to us during your virtual care visit is private and secure, but no video or audio tools are ever completely secure. There is an increased security risk that your health information may be intercepted or disclosed to third parties when using video or audio communications tools. To help us keep your information safe and secure, you can:

  • Understand that this method of communication is not secure in the same way as a private appointment in an exam room.
  • Use a private computer/device (i.e., not an employer’s or third party’s computer/device) and a secure internet connection. For example, using a personal computer or tablet is more secure than at a library, and your access to the Internet on your home network will generally be more secure than an open guest Wi-Fi connection.

You should also understand that virtual care is not a substitute for in-person communication or clinical examinations, where appropriate, or for attending the Emergency Department when needed (including for any urgent care that may be required).

By providing your information, you agree to let us collect, use, or disclose your personal health information through video or audio communications as above (while following applicable privacy laws) in order to provide you with care.
